While not as famous as it's black and gold Bandit cousin, this red 78 Trans Am inspires thoughts of Burt Reynolds in 'Hooper' or more recently Will Farrell's ride from 'Old School' ("Took the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon a little more juice. But it's not exactly street legal, so keep it on the down low.")
Gerald's unrestored ride with only 45,000 original miles, is finished in Mayan Red with the deluxe Carmine Red velour interior. It features a 6.6 litre (400 cubic inch) V8 Pontiac L78 motor mated to a TH350 automatic transmission with 2.56 gears and positraction.
Factory options include power steering & brakes, power windows & locks, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, buckets with centre console and a full rally gauge package.
Previous owner aftermarket changes include "C&C" T-Tops installed in the mid-80's along with conversion to true dual exhaust.
Gerald's recent modifications include replacing the original AM/FM one-speaker radio to a modern "retro-look" system with cassette tape and iPod connection. In addition, he converted the originally non-functioning shaker hood scoop to one that opens under full throttle via a solenoid and kick-down switch (you know, sort of took the restrictor plate off...).
